Author: Chips Yap

Just attending the KL International Motorshow 2006 (KLIMS 2006) and seeing all the latest models – including models that you can’t even buy today (but maybe in future) – is already a big treat for those who love cars. And for some lucky visitors, it could be a rewarding visit too as they could win attractive prizes that include two cars!

During the largest motorshow ever to be held in Malaysia which will be held from May 26 to June 4 2006, the organizers are offering up to RM300,000 worth of prizes to be won in various contests. The most significant would be a fully-imported smart forfour but there are also Naza motorcycles to be won as well (Blade NBN 250, Blade NBN 650, Blitz 150 and Symphony NBS 125-i) and handphones and other car accessories are also up for grabs.

To be eligible for the lucky draw, all visitors have to do is purchase KLIMS 2006 tickets (RM15 on weekdays and RM20 on weekends) and attach the tab to the lucky visitor form. The lucky draw winners will be announced during KLIMS 2006 Gala Dinner.

Two lucky visitors to KLIMS 2006 will get to win these cars – a smart forfour (top) and a Proton Savvy (above)

Volvo will reward winners in its safety contest by loaning them Volvo models like this XC90 for a week, inclusive of petrol and a holiday trip to a beach resort.

Mokitown is DaimlerChrysler’s web-based road safety game which is part of its road safety initiative that targets children

The KLIMS 2006 Road Safety Campaign, which will be part of the motorshow, will also have contests with prizes coming from Volvo Car Malaysia and Proton. Volvo, which will have a “Volvo Safety Discovery Zone” to give the public information on safety devices, will offer 3 attractive prizes in the form of having the use of Volvo models such as the XC90, V50 T5 and S40 for a week (inclusive of petrol) as well as 3days/2nights stay at selected beach resorts.

DaimlerChrysler Malaysia will be hosting MobileKids, an international road safety initiative of DaimlerChrysler for children between 7-12 years of age. MobileKids consists of three core pillars ie. Mokitown, a web-based road safety game, Short TV spots (Public Service Announcements) featuring the target group’s idols and Nimbols, a specially developed 3D-TV-animation series. MobileKids experience teaches kids’ intuition in a playful manner to be aware of road safety.

Proton will also be doing it parts with a safety device, information and system showcase and run contests which will have prizes such as the T-Bikes and a Proton Savvy.

To win the Volvo car holidays and the Proton Savvy, visitors will have to submit the Car Safety Contest forms with the correct answers to qualify for the draw (clue: the answers will be found in the video presentations, displayed buntings and distributed pamphlets).

Another program is the Safe Drive Program by autoTRACK Malaysia, where at least 3 participants per race will be controlling their respective remote control car along a mini track and the first car to reach the finish line abiding all safety rules win attractive prizes.

Other stimulating programs awaiting visitors at the KLIMS 2006 Road Safety Campaign. There will be the ‘Undang-Undang Explorer’ hosted by Bridgestone to brush up drivers’ understanding of road signage and the 'Vehicle Parts & Engine Explorer' hosted by Nippon Oil Malaysia to inculcate vehicle part knowledge amongst drivers using graphic images of vehicle parts. Participants with correct answers are entitled to premium gifts from the respective sponsors.

Adding more to the list is The 'Safety Quiz & Guess the Road and Guess the Car' with more attractive gifts from other sponsors. GPS Tech Solutions Sdn Bhd will be featuring the car security solution with 1 unit of V-Guard Security Alarm System and 1 unit of On-Guard House Alarm System to give away to lucky visitors.

Visitors will also able to watch the process and gain in-depth insights of car-making through a documentary at the projector screen as well as witness a crash dummy demonstration at the Road Safety Campaign Zone.

Interested participants for the KLIMS 2006 Road Safety Campaign games and contests can pre-register now at autoTRACK's Malaysia website www.autotrack.com.my for an identification number so as to avoid the expected long registration queue at the KLIMS 2006 Road Safety Campaign Zone.
